Born and raised in Monroe, LA, Kelsey Ruiz is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C), having earned her FNP certification in December 2017 through the AANP. She is also certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), graduating with her PMHNP in August 2023 through the ANCC. 

Kelsey joined Second Chances in May 2021, where she oversees the medical department. In her role, she conducts comprehensive assessments, manages medications, and provides ongoing care for patients’ medical and mental health needs. Passionate about holistic care, Kelsey believes in treating the whole person, understanding that medication is just one component of a patient’s recovery journey. 

For Kelsey, the most rewarding part of her work is witnessing clients regain hope, realize their purpose, and transform their lives.
