Maranda Salters, LPN
Utilization Review Nurse
Maranda Salters, originally from Bastrop, Louisiana, has been a nurse for 18 years with experience in long-term care, medical-surgical nursing, LTAC, home health, corrections, travel nursing, and substance use treatment. She joined Second Chances as a PRN nurse in 2022 before stepping into her current role as Utilization Review Nurse in February 2026.
For Maranda, working in addiction recovery is personal. After losing her daughter, she found herself wanting to better understand why people turn to substances and the experiences that can lead someone down that path. What started as a search for answers became a calling. Today, she says the people she works with continue to teach and inspire her every day.
As the Utilization Review Nurse, Maranda works behind the scenes to help clients get the treatment they need. She works closely with the clinical team and insurance providers to make sure every client has the best opportunity to continue their care.
What keeps Maranda motivated is watching people find hope again. She believes addiction can affect anyone and wants to help break the stigma that surrounds it. One of the things she tells clients often is, “I’d rather see your face 100 times than read your obituary once. Keep trying. Keep fighting.”
